FRUITFUL LIFE GROUP
GENESIS CLF FRUITFUL LIFE GROUPS
Understanding the Biblical Basis of our Bible Study Home Groups
Our fruitful life groups are our small home groups and their objectives are rooted in our commitment to fulfil the great commission: a command from Jesus Christ as expressed in Matthew 28 :18-20, directing all Christians to go and make fruitful disciples.
In addition, Acts 2:40 - 47 also states: -
40 “With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
The important points to note from these verses are:

After salvation comes a life of community; A group of people with common interests and characteristics.

-
The importance of becoming actively involved in the prayer life of the church.
-
There is no room for a life of isolation in our Christian walk.
-
The importance of having the willingness to sacrifice for one another

-
The importance of maintaining interaction with those outside the Christian faith and not be removed from society.
-
The lord Himself endorsed their conduct by adding to their number.

Romans 16:5 confirmed that in the first century church, believers met regularly in their houses and 1 Corinthians 16:19 states: “the churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house”.
Colossians 4:16 also states: “After this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea”.
Philemon 2 reads “to Apphia our sister and Archippus our fellow soldier and to the church that meets in your home”.
